Our Story

The Mudgee Readers’ Festival has been running for thirteen years, a huge achievement for a festival created by a small team of passionate readers, with the first modest events held in Lawson Park. Over the years the Festival has gone from strength to strength, with an exciting line-up of events across our gorgeous town, including MRF Book Club and bibliotherapy sessions, storytelling events, book and wine matching and, of course, our Long Lazy Lunch.

In 2023, after a Covid-enforced hiatus, the Mudgee Readers’ team are planning a return to a full festival. Stay tuned →

I am honoured to see such great minds, ideas and senses of humour come to the fabulous region we call home.

Our Mission

At the Mudgee Readers’ Festival, we pride ourselves on presenting dynamic, fun and thought-provoking events. We want our attendees to be an active part of the Festival: engaging with conversations, creating content and sharing ideas with brilliant writers.

While the Festival has been running sessions for young people since the beginning, in 2018 these events grew into the Mudgee Young Readers’ Festival. Harry Potter trivia, a Street Library session for families, YA Book Swap, Sunday Story-time plus school sessions with bestselling authors are just some of the MYRF events that have wowed our youth audience.
