The Mudgee Literary Arts Residency

Location: Mudgee, Wiradjuri Country
Details: A week-long literary residency in Mudgee
Facilities: A quiet writing space is provided in the historic Kildallon building, which includes access to wi-fi, kitchen facilities and outdoor space. Private accommodation will be provided locally.
Eligibility: Open to writers and illustrators working in the literary arts, including writers of fiction and narrative non-fiction, children's literature, poets and graphic novelists. The residency includes 5 days of uninterrupted writing time, and an artist-led community engagement activity at the Kildallon Arts. Details to be negotiated.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes — the Residency is for writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama. Please note, it’s for single writers and not groups.

  • The $1,500 stipend is expected to cover costs associated with travel and meals while the writer is participating in the residency.

  • No — if you’re successful, we will organise your accommodation and advise beforehand.

  • Yes — it is expected the successful applicant will be able to make their own way to Mudgee to participate. Funds from the Stipend are to be used for travel.

  • CROW is a partnership between three fabulous Regional Arts Development Organisations, and this program has additional funding to what we have been able to wrangle. You can still apply directly to us from these regions, but please note that we can only offer a stipend of $1,500, whereas CROW has $4,000 stipends on offer for writers from these regions. We welcome writers from all over to apply directly using our form, but with the understanding that funding is limited.
